TFE will host a Girls Academy ID Camp Friday, May 1, 2026. ID Camps are a great opportunity for players to meet our staff and experience the competitive training environment at TFE.

For the 2026/2027 season, TFE will compete in the Girls Academy in the U19, U17, U16, U15, U14, and U13 age groups. A TFE Pre-GA U12 team season plan is tentative.

For the 2026/2027 season, TFE will compete in the MLS NEXT Academy in the U19, U17, U16, U15, U14, and U13 age groups. TFE Pre-MLS NEXT Academy U12 competes in the National Academy League (NAL).

TFE To Join MLS Next's New Competition Tier in 2025-2026

Tonka Fusion Elite (TFE) is excited to announce the club’s boys programming will join MLS Next’s new competition tier beginning in the 2025-2026 club season. MLS Next’s new competition tier will feature more than 1,200 teams from more than 220 clubs across regional divisions during the regular season. Of those clubs, more than half previously competed outside of MLS NEXT.

Kicking off in September 2025, MLS Next’s new competition tier’s regular season will include regional tournaments, coaching development and educational programs, and the chance to participate in MLS NEXT national events. The regional tournaments will act as qualifiers for a championship event at the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs in 2026. These events will provide key opportunities for college, professional, and national team scouts to identify and assess talent from across the youth soccer landscape.

What age groups will be offered?

TFE’s u13, u14, u15, u16, u17, and u19 boys teams will compete in the new MLS Next tier.

Will players be able to play High School soccer in the fall?

Yes, players competing in the new tier will also be eligible to play high school soccer.

When will tryouts be held?

Summer tryout dates for the 2025-2026 season will be announced in late Spring 2025.

What will TFE’s competition look like?

TFE will participate in the North Division of MLS Next’s new competition tier, which includes 4 other leading clubs in MN and 5 leading clubs in Wisconsin.

When will TFE’s membership learn more about 2025-2026 season plans and how the league shift impacts our players & families?

About Tonka Fusion Elite

Tonka Fusion Elite (TFE) was established in 2017 by Fusion Soccer Club and Tonka United Soccer Association to offer an enhanced youth soccer experience for players in the west metro. Initially, TFE started with only two age groups, but it has since expanded to seven age groups and has become a prominent force in Minnesota Youth Soccer. In 2022, TFE's girls program joined the Girls Academy League, a strategic partner of MLS Next. The boys program followed suit in 2023, entering the Elite Academy League.

Minnesota Bliss - WPSL's Newest Team

TFE is thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with Maplebrook Soccer Club to form the newly named Minnesota Bliss WPSL team! In a space where collaboration is rare, this teamwork represents a shared commitment to advancing opportunities for our clubs’ oldest female players.

Leading the team as head coach will be Fusion SC Girls’ Director, Sara Rosenblum . Sara currently holds the position of Director of Coaching and Player Development at Fusion SC while also serving as the Head Coach for Hopkins High School Girls Soccer. Her coaching career extends to pre-professional and collegiate levels, including roles as an Assistant Coach for Minnesota Aurora FC 2 and St. Francis College, Women's Soccer along with serving as the Director of Operations for Brooklyn City FC WPSL Team. Rosenblum has also contributed to youth development in Head Coach positions for ODP Eastern New York, Brooklyn City FC and FC Select. .Sara holds her USSF C License.

The Girls Academy League and MLS NEXT Announce New Partnership beginning in 2025

MLS NEXT has established a strategic partnership with the Girls Academy (GA), recognized as one of the top youth development platforms for female soccer players in the United States This collaboration aims to jointly focus on technical standards, innovation, membership opportunities, and event integrations, all with the goal of advancing player development across North America. The GA is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of its club members and players by upholding an exceptional standard of excellence in coaching, competitive play, and regional & national showcase events throughout the year.

Tonka Fusion Elite, a Girls Academy League Member since 2022, provides a rigorous training and competitive atmosphere aimed at fostering the growth of exceptionally talented, determined, and focused female footballers. These teams participate in the Girls Academy league, catering to age groups ranging from U13 to U19.

In a collaborative effort, MLS NEXT and the GA will engage in coaching education and innovative program development, as well as organize showcase events that will feature participation from both MLS NEXT and GA teams. These events aim to streamline scheduling and travel for players, families, and clubs, while ensuring that both boys' and girls' teams have the opportunity to compete in front of scouts from colleges, professional teams, and national squads.

TFE U12 Programming

TFE is Excited to Announce the Addition of Club-Wide u12 Programming in 2024!

Tonka Fusion Elite (TFE) is excited to announce the expansion of our program to include U12 teams for both boys and girls for the upcoming 2024-25 season. TFE proudly competes in the Girls Academy League (GA) for girls and the Elite Academy (EA) for boys starting at the U13 level. The introduction of Pre-GA and Pre-EA programming will enable our U12 rising stars to train as a team a full season prior to countable league competition.

These new U12 teams will also make an early transition to 11v11 play, allowing them to adapt and develop on the big field. Our goal is to have our teams as prepared as possible for GA and EA conference play in the fall of their U13 season.

TFE U12 programming will include participation in two out-of-town tournaments (fall and summer), TCSL league play throughout the fall, winter, and summer at the U13 (11v11) age group, and Pre-EA and Pre-GA friendlies integrated with parts of the TFE U13 and U14 GA and EA league schedules.

Details regarding an upcoming informational session, season plans, and coaching staff will be announced in the coming weeks.

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership that promises to elevate our club experience. TFE is teaming up with two industry giants, Stefans Soccer and Adidas as we head into a new uniform cycle. Stefans Soccer is the midwest's premier soccer-specialty retailer, serving the soccer community since 1965.

Stefans Soccer has already launched a TFE Spirit Wear offering to kick off this new partnership. Available until April 22nd, it includes hats, personalized t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, a lunch bag, and TFE stickers for water bottles, computers, and car windows. Welcome, Stephanie Foster and Sinisa Angelovski!

Tonka Fusion Elite is proud to announce additions to its leadership team in response to a year of rapid growth and the dynamic evolution of the youth soccer landscape.

In a strategic move to enhance its leadership team, TFE welcomes Stephanie Foster as the new Managing Director, who will assume responsibility for all aspects of running the club, effective immediately. A Minnesota native, Stephanie brings deep experience in youth soccer at the local, regional and national soccer level. Her extensive coaching career spans youth, college and professional levels, including head and assistant coaching roles at renowned institutions such as Stanford University, Harvard University, Northwestern University and the NWSL’s Chicago Red Stars. Stephanie’s impressive playing career includes notable achievements at Wayzata High School and Northwestern University, where she presently holds several goal-scoring records. Stephanie’s commitment to providing a competitive and positive environment for young athletes aligns seamlessly with TFE’s vision, making her an exciting addition to the team.

Sinisa Angelovski also joins TFE in the newly established full-time Boys Academy and Director of Youth Development role. Sinisa brings a wealth of experience garnered from his successful tenure at North Shore Soccer Club in Wisconsin. With an impressive 14-year track record in club soccer leadership, Sinisa has played pivotal roles as a coach, Technical Director, and Director of Youth Development, establishing himself as a respected figure with an extensive network in both boys and girls youth soccer ecosystems. Boasting a distinguished playing history that includes time with the Yugoslavian National Team and professional experience in Serbia, Bulgaria and the USA, Sinisa is a true role model for our players. He adds instant credibility to our coaching talent with a USSF B License and Swansea City FA Category 1 Coaching Certificate. Sinisa is dedicated to crafting a cohesive development model for our players and coaches, which will cultivate an optimal path forward for our boys’ program.

Additionally, TFE is thrilled to announce that James See will assume the pivotal role of Communications Director and Advisor to Boys Academy Director. James, who most recently served as Tonka United’s Technical Director and TFE’s Boys Director, has been instrumental in the organization since 2018. We are excited for James to continue with TFE in addition to his professional demands as a Dean of Students in the Wayzata School District. In James’ new role, he will provide a seamless transition for Sinisa, continue to support our boys’ programming, and play a key role in promoting TFE through various channels including the website, social media, and other platforms.
